Summer Lovin Happened So Fast

I've never been a big partaker of the after work drinks scene, mainly because I tend to get hives and a mild case of claustrophobia whenever surrounded by a sea of suits (not to mention that sweater tied around the neck look). After work, I want to immediately run as far away from Corporateville as possible and tear off my McCorprate clothes. Luckily, the whole getting laid off thing saved me from the scene for a bit. However, after having an EXTREMELY relaxing month off, I'm back in with them again, although this time very happily as a temp. Yes, the stale air and the sitting on my ass all day staring at a lifeless screen pretending to give a fuck about expenses or some such other instantaneously boring task definitely does, in a simple word, suck, BUT.........it's kinda not quite as bad now. I think mainly it's because I don't feel stuck, like I tend to whenever I'm hired permanently somewhere. As a temp, I can truly pick up and go in a day's notice and it's not considered bad form. That's just brilliant.

Anyway, somehow without my knowledge, I seem to have become an active willing participant in the after work drinks scene. Every night this week (ok, there have only been two so far, but STILL), I have gotten my drink on before 7pm whilst still in downtown. Normally, just the thought of that would make me shudder. However, I've even been the instigator of the après work drinks this week! What gives?? I'm not wearing a sweater wrap yet, but I'm not sure how far off that could be. But, you know, in my defense, I think in the summer everything just automatically feels more casual. Maybe because the heat makes everyone take their jackets and ties off as soon as they hit the fresh air. And all of the pretty summer dresses the girls get to wear. And all of the hot tans everyone's sporting. Just the whole happy summer feeling makes me want to get out as much as possible and laugh and drink ice cold beers with EVERYONE.

I LOVE SUMMER!!!!!!
