The Intellectual Vs. The Artist, But Both Wanting to be Engulfed by a Magnificent Vagina
"You stand on the brink of greatness. The world will open to you like an oyster. No... not like an oyster. The world will open to you like a magnificent vagina. No, don't speak! Don't speak!"
I re-watched one of my favorite movies last night: Bullets Over Broadway. Essentially, it's about the Intellectual in love with art, who sadly realizes (generally speaking) you can't smart your way into talent. The artistic gift will always blow the artistic calculation out of the water. One can admire and study and practice, and still end up forever envious of those with innate genius. It's a depressing realization on the one hand, and a hungry, passionate union on the other. To be able to feel and sense and live the art of another is a profound part of the equation. It's just, the Intellectual's lot is to be eternally cast on the receiving, instead of the giving, end.
