We celebrated Valentine's Day by gorging ourselves

at Caffe Umbra in the South End. While there, we noted it is quite the lesbian dining venue of choice. The atmosphere of the restaurant is chic and subdued with low lighting and techno-ambient or techno-lite playing in the background. This contrasts starkedly with the restaurant next door we've been known to visit also, Pho Republique. Pho is more in your face with loud chatter, a big booming neon lit bar, and amped up music. The gay men and the heteros who love them are the main patrons there.

The noted difference made my boyfriend and I question which type of person we are- gay man or lesbian. I am, without a doubt, a flaming gay man on the inside. My boyfriend is more of a lesbian. So fitting.
