Step 1) Do Not Mix Baking & Summer
Not very smartly, I bought a muffin cookbook at the beginning of summer. It has all of these fabulous larger than life pics of muffins and pretty simple (ie. I'd actually make them) recipes. But, what was I thinking?! The thought of turning the oven on alone makes me break out in a sweat. That's sweat on top of the sweat this sweltering summer is already giving me! But I love love love baked goodies: muffins, cupcakes, cakes, cookies, pizza, oh my! Here's Him making THE BEST FOCACCIA I have ever tasted:

Escape to Ogunquit Beach
Man oh man, did we need to get out of town. There's something claustrophobic about the city in the summer. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Boston. This place is like a summery magical kingdom compared to Texas. Maybe my apartment is too small and what seems cozy in the winter feels oppressive in the summer. Whatever it is, getting away feels so so good, even if just for a day.
Of course, we woke up late and struggled to remember basic things to take to the beach, it'd been so long. Of course, the car's power steering went out and we had to hang out in the Dunkin Donuts lot for half an hour. Of course, somebody forgot a towel. Of course, my sunglasses broke. But, we made it! And by golly, we left relaxed! And burned! Here we are enjoying ourselves:
Here's our hungover friend. When I asked him what he did the night before, he replied, "The redhead."
The perfect beach day ends with lobsters, of course. We drove to Portsmouth and found a spot right on the water. Ahhhhh.
