This Post is Genius

Somehow, someway, and despite my penchant for wearing nothing but pjs, I made it out of the house last night (properly clothed) to enjoy a night of sophisticated art and drinks. We visited the ICA’s new Tara Donovan exhibit and, let me tell you, that woman takes crafty to a whole new level. She takes regular household items, multiplies them to the power of gazillion, then creates surprising, identity-morphing forms. My particular favorite was “Haze,” which was a wall of straws. Yes, A WALL OF STRAWS. And it was genius! Hence the award. There was also a chandelier created out of paper cups that seemed so simple yet awesomely creative, it made me want to run home and start hot gluing paper products to my ceiling.

I thought better of it.

After feeling very cultural and impressed with ourselves, we decided we deserved some fancy schmancy drinks at a new concept bar that’s opened up in the recently trendified Fort Point area near the museum. The name of the bar is Drink. Yes, just Drink. By not having an impressive name, they automatically become impressive. Get it? Yeah. Anyway, the concept of Drink is there are no menus. I repeat, no menus!! I know, I know, you may be thinking to yourself, “That’s bedlam!” or "That's like every other bar!"

But in fact, it is also Genius.

Ok, here’s what you’re supposed to do: you go up to your super cheerful and super sweet (he really was! loved him!) bartender and tell him what you’re craving that night. For instance, my friend wanted a rum drink that wasn’t too sweet and I was craving a spicy vodka concoction. Then, he scurries away for about 10 minutes and returns with little liquid miracles. They were amazing. I think it helps that they make everything from scratch, including squeezing the juices right at the bar. I was reading one review on yelp and one person asked for a gin drink that would make him stop hating gin. Guess what. He’s ain’t a hater no more! Obviously, all of this attentiveness to our needs and high quality ingredients made me fear the bill. But get this! Every drink -no matter what- is $10.

Now, that is Genius.
